TheAwayGames
Podcast: Season 3

Episodes 1-4

01

On this episode, we interview the first of 3 white Americans who discuss how they feel post Trump's presidential election. This guest happens to be covered in tattoos, looks like a metal band lead singer and is bisexual...that last part makes his colleagues uncomfortable. Unfortunately, as he states in our discussion, it could have in impact on his ability to be successful in his career.

03

Picking up the story with Double J (2), what happens after you decide to drop out of high school and how do you find the strength to be successful, especially when drugs and alcohol surround your social scene?

We'll dive into that and how the parallels between my personal life and Double J's (2) over lap. We'll also learn about my relationship with my dad and how my broken family influenced some of my bad decision at this same age.

The big takeaway should be the signs that your children are showing you that can lead to destructive behaviors that derail their future success.

02

Part 1 - Today we meet and discuss the early and teenage years of Double J, a smart young lady who has challenges avoiding the meanness of young girls and their cliques. Peer pressure impacts us all at this age and the question is, what are we doing as parents to present behaviors that support or negate these activities in our children.

04

Identity shapes our self worth and understanding daily. What we do for a living, who we are to our families, the impact that we are working to make in the world all play roles in who we believe ourselves to be.

What happens when that belief is confronted with a debilitating disease? What happens when that disease slowly takes your identity away and your strengths must change? How malleable are you to deal with that type of life altering change?

On this, the last of our 3 episode series dedicated to Double J (2), we discuss her next challenge and the challenge that will ultimately take her from us. Her outlook on this reality is a beautiful one and her choice to continue pushing the people around her to be better sets an example for us all to follow.

Podcast: Season 3

Episodes 5-8

05

On this, the 5th episode of Season 5 of TheAwayGames_Podcast, we are speaking with Dr. Shindale Seale of Seade Coaching & Consulting in Los Angeles. We discuss the role ERGs should be playing during this time of corporate transition away from "DEI" and towards its next iteration.

While the focus may be moving away from identity based groups in the workplace, how are your counterparts in other protected classes standing up for you and vice versa? How does Seade Coaching & Consulting help ERGs better navigate this transition? And what is the value of calculating the ROI that your protected classed ERG brings to your organization to help prove some of these cuts to be financially costly to the organization?

07

Sexual Assault is a life changing traumatic experience that is typically viewed through the lens of women and girls. Not enough emphasis is placed on the impacts of SA on males in our society.

Over the next 3 episodes, you will learn about a Conservative, tin foil hat wearing, MAGA supporting manager who doesn't believe DEI to be helpful, as he doesn't believe education is attained at concurrent rates for all races in the US.  He is a manager at his workplace and carries these views with him to lead...everyday.

09

On this, the final episode with Mr. Tin Foil, his mask comes off and we are able to see his hatred and discontent for those he thinks less of clearly. His humanity and the sexual abuse he endured as a child doesn't save him. His father's lack of emotional availability doesn't save him. His family wealth, his desire to walk the path of Jesus, his age all do not save him.

Over the course of this 3 part series, Double J(C) has proclaimed his humanity in efforts that you, the listeners, will hear his pain and excuse the pain he inflicts on others (which he wisely hides on this platform). However, his actions in the workplace became the center of an EEOC investigation focused on racism, creating a toxic work environment and retaliation against a whistle blower that held him accountable for his action.  The same accountability that he discusses on these episodes, he repels when the mirror of change catches in the act and exposed his flaws...not as a person (though those surely exist), but as a manager of an organization.

06

How can you ever be expected to align with your company's goals if they don't provide you with the most basic of starting points?

On this episode of #TheAwayGames_Podcast on #AlivePodcastNetwork, we talk with premiere executive talent placement extraordinaire, Chantelle Johnson of #Talent4DCulture. She walks us through her experience in Healthcare, how entrepreneurship provided a level of freedom that allowed for greater accuracy in her work and why seeking and asking for the right data, as an ERG leader, will help you become more successful for your company's goals!

08

What happens to victims that aren't allowed to be victims? To families that don't talk about their histories of Sexual Abuse? To parents who never shared their trauma with their children and thus never stopped their children from hiding parts of themselves from the world?

On this, Part 2 of our discussion with Double J(3), the Anti-Semite MAGA supporter who doesn't believe blacks are intelligent enough for higher roles in organizations, we learn the darker sides of victimhood.  Double J(3) talks through his academic disappointments, his lack of control around illicit substances and how the need for acceptance and belonging led him into the hands of more abusers.

Human. He is human. But does his humanity excuse his desire to believe in his superiority over others?

10

What happens when you actualize that breaking through the glass ceilings in life isn't enough?

In this conversation, we sit done with Casey Duhart, General Councel of Acadia Healthcare and former Editor of the Tennessee University Law Review. She takes us through her career challenges, starting with the puppet-like roles she was asked to perform for law firms presenting diversity but practicing Americana.

She then talks to us about the need for diverse faces to "run through the tape", stating the importance of remembering that while "a" goal could be to reach a career plateau, the plateau should not slow or stall the excellency that got you there!

We round out the conversation discussing the challenges and stickiness of workplace discrimination vs workplace retaliation in litigation and key factors that help you identify if you have a potential retaliation case.
